So, Sam loves her raw vegetables salad. But she won’t eat bacon anymore. But salads are so much nicer with that occasional crunch one gets from bits of crisp fried bacon. Should she lose out on the texture? Nah, she doesn’t have to. There’s always tofu skins that can be fried to a crisp, crumbled then sprinkled on top of a pile of raw veggies.

But tofu skin is bland! It isn’t salty and tasty like bacon! Right. But there’s a solution for that too. Herbed croutons. Substitute butter for the olive oil or use a combination of butter and olive oil. Add salt to the seasonings too. Finally, don’t scrimp on the herbs because they give so much depth of flavor.

    Hi Connie,thanks for another great tip on how to avoid the fatty bacon.can you also give us some tips on the proper way to wash leafy veggies for vegetable salads?do you soak them in any solution like soda? i love fresh veggies but i want to make sure that it is clean and safe to eat.

      I just rinse the veggies under the tap. Under running water. :)
